Det ska göra ont att spela hockey, sägs det. Helst hos motståndarlaget.

Sounds very serious, Per.
I didn't now this game was called "Ice Hockey"; I thought this was just plain "Hockey", until around Atlanta Olympics. New Zealand had women's and men's "Hockey" teams, and they play on the .... ground. Yet another memory, for me, of Minnesota. Some Monday mornings, our hockey players used to come to school with black eyes and cuts all kinds of trophies.
We usually say "hockey" as well but then we refer to this thing on ice. So I suppose it's good to differentiate between the sports to avoid some international confusion. There is also bandy, an obscure version of ice hockey with a round ball and usually played outdoors. It's a lot like football. Which, of course, isn't football but soccer. Gee, this got complicated.
Thanks for stopping by, Meg!
