christmas shopping rush hour

stockholm by waves

Today is the first quiet day in many stores. Reminiscing the Christmas shopping madness (and preparing for the big sales "mellandagsrea" coming up!) here is a golden moment of shopping rush from Sergel Square. (2007-12-16)
Efter det här kan en och annan stilla natt behövas

Och sänd en tanke till dem som jobbar i det här, veckor i sträck!

What kind of a store was this? Customers took number to be served, right? Gosh, this is exciting, don't ask my why. I do enjoy madness of Christmas shopping, because by then I'm finished so I just go people-watching.

My favorite of the day. Do you think my life is too quiet? I like observing as much as being in amongst people.

I was thinking, though, what a wonderful thing you do here. I'm very visual, so I have to come here consciously, rather than just hop over and look at photos. And for the first couple I listen to, I always wish there were visuals as well (i.e. video), but by the second or third clip, I can concentrate on the sounds, and boy, there's a totally another world, and you "see" so much in the picture that you don't see if there are visuals. Case in point is I was mildly freaked out by the urgency of the toy advertisements a few posts down - I'm not quite sure what it does to a small child's psyche.

I do love what you do here, Per. Keep up the great work.

I'm back to a busy shop in Stockholm now, and look, my number is still has quite a long wait!! I'm thinking..... bakery or a deli... around.... 4.30PM, on a Thursday or Friday night.... though it could be Tuesday.

I better stop listening to this one before I wear out your tape, ha ha. Thanks for a terrific Sunday morning.

Hi Meg, I guess you could say it's a commercial market place for unique design in handpicked items. Probably a good gift shop.

Your life might well be too quiet. Then again, maybe it's just that you're developing a fondness for Swedish sounds... ;)

Peter and Stefan have done some great job finding photos to go with the sound clips and it's really the best when we have complementary original material. Still, just like all those photos without sound, we should be able to get used to the notion of sounds without pictures once in a while. As always, time will tell.

There are several hurdles, in fact. Many visitors don't understand that they can in fact play sounds by clicking on those players.

We so appreciate your coming here consciously!
