honky-tonk on Västerlånggatan

stockholm by waves on ODEO

A man on Västerlånggatan in the Old Town provided sort of a minimalist moving and swaying one-man concert based on merry vocals, a harmonica and a horn to honk once in a while. Passers-by were slightly confused but no one seemed to mind. (2007-05-12)

Performance and play-back continuity is very much an issue for us. Obviously one doesn’t want the sound to be interrupted once in a while which could happen if it’s being downloaded slower than it’s played back. Let us know, by comments or email or whatever, how this works at your end. Thanks. /per

You just can't help but smile with this one. From time to time, it sounds like he's abusing a poor sea bird! Was he dressed like a circus clown, I'd like to know!

No problem with playback for me. It's great fun.

I guess you have a pretty good internet connection and then it should be a piece of cake. In theory, at least. It’s fascinating to know that this actually works all the way around the planet.

I wish I had taken a photo as well. Peter and I made a joint expedition last week but I still find it difficult to concentrate on sound as well as photo so until now I’ve focused on catching those sounds. It’s a lot more interesting of course when you can have both.

Except for carrying that horn to honk (you don’t see that a lot, do you) he looked pretty regular. I could be entirely wrong but my guess was that he had been drinking. As a matter of fact I had a hard time following him; he was moving around all the time and sort of lashed out singing at people he met. Didn’t seem entirely friendly so it actually sounds funnier than it felt. Strange experience but an interesting memory. I hope he didn’t get into trouble.
